MANILA, Philippines — The 2022 PVL clubs or Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference will begin on October 8, and the teams Akari, Choco Mucho, PLDT, and United Auctioneers-Army have each revealed their separate imports for the tournament.

Prisilla Rivera, a former member of the Dominican Republic national team, was announced as the import for the newest PVL Team, Akari, on Wednesday. Akari will be making its debut in the professional volleyball league.

Rivera, who is now 37 years old and played for the Dominican Republic national team from 2001 to 2021, brings an amazing history to her role as head coach of a young Filipino club team. During that time, she earned a total of 12 gold medals. She finished her career with a total of 17 championships and 13 Most Valuable Player awards from club leagues in her home country, Spain, Puerto Rico, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Brazil, Italy, and Hungary, as well as her most recent stint in Indonesia with Jakarta Pertamina Energi at the beginning of this year.

The spiker, who stands at 6 feet and 1 inch tall and has competed in the Olympics three times, is going to share her knowledge and expertise with the Power Chargers, who are led by Michelle Cobb, Trisha Genesis, Erika Raagas, Lycha Ebon, and Dani Ravena and are coached by Jorge Souza de Brito from Brazil.

Meanwhile, PLDT introduced Russian outside spiker Elina Savkina-Samoilenko as its import, and on Tuesday, Canadian spiker Laura Condotta arrived in the country as she reinforces Army, which will have United Auctioneers as its sponsor. PLDT is an affiliate of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company.

A spiker with a height of 6 feet 4 inches, Savkina-Samoilenko competed in club volleyball competitions in Russia with Luch Moscow and Proton-Saratov, as well as in France with Le Cannet and Municipal Olympique Mougins. She most recently played for Mersin B. Bld. in Turkey before joining the High Speed Hitters. Rhea Dimaculangan, Mika Reyes, and Dell Palomata are leading the High Speed Hitters as they attempt to improve upon their previous fourth-place performance in the Invitational Conference.

The Lady Troopers selected Condotta, a standout at Brock University who had previously competed for the Canadian national team in beach volleyball competitions both domestically and internationally. The 25-year-old played volleyball professionally in Switzerland for Raiffeisen Volley Toggenburg and in Cyprus for AEK Larnaca.

After the club finished in fifth place in the last conference, they will be hoping to improve their standing in this competition by combining the talents of Condotta and Army star Jovelyn Gonzaga to create a formidable offensive duo.

Odina Aliyeva, an Uzbek-Azerbaijani outside hitter, has been posting Instagram stories while training with the Flying Titans ahead of the season-ending conference, which is returning after a break of three years. Choco Mucho has not yet announced its import.

On Wednesday, a member of the Azerbaijan national team who is 32 years old shared an Instagram story in which she was seen working out at a gym in Baguio City alongside Des Cheng, Regine Arocha, and Ponggay Gaston.

Aliyeva brings experience from a number of global leagues, including her native country’s league as well as leagues in Italy, Turkey, Indonesia, the United States of America, and Brazil. The Flying Titans, who have settled for back-to-back fourth place finishes in the most recent two Open Conferences before failing to advance to the semis round of the Invitationals, are hoping that Aliyeva could be the missing piece to help them get over the hump.

The spiker, who stands at 6 feet and 1 inch, most recently competed for Jakarta Elektrik in Indonesia. She will be playing alongside Kat Tolentino, Bea De Leon, setter Deanna Wong, and libero Denden Lazaro-Revilla on this new team.

The teams that have won the first two conferences of this season, Creamline and Chery Tiggo, have not yet disclosed who their imports are. The team that is now reigning as champion of the competition, Petro Gazz, has hired Lindsey Vander Weide. Cignal has brought on Tai Bierria, and F2 Logistics has re-signed Lindsay Stalzer.
